USDA Funds $50,000 in Alaskan Fishing Vessel Upgrades

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has released a list of projects funded by its Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), including projects in all fifty states and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Alaskan small businesses received twelve REAP grants, including five commercial fishing vessels which will now receive between up to $16,971 to install energy efficient refrigerated seawater (RSW) systems. These upgrades will reduce their operating and maintenance costs. SWAMC is proud to have assisted all five of these fishers in applying for the REAP grants, totaling more than $54,000 in this round of funding.
